Came here for dinner and loved the pasta we got! We originally were going to Ciccio Mio but the hostess let us know it is the same menu next door so we came to Gilt Bar and were able to be seated without a reservation. The ambiance is dimly lit, perfect for a date night, and they gave us Prosecco since we were celebrating our anniversary. The vodka rigatoni is the same as Trivoli and Ciccio Mio - Always tastes great. There is a fun little Photo Booth downstairs as well. Would definitely come back to try some of their cocktails and the dessert next time.

Gilt bar is always a go to! Sat on the patio today and shared the burrata (so flavorful). Then shared the smoked salmon ceaser and pesto buccatini - the pesto is so fresh and light. The salad may be the best I've ever had, I highly recommend. Service is always great, and efficient. The patio was a new vibe compared to the inside I enjoyed it. Must try in River North!

The 1st time I visited this place, we were seated 15+ minutes past our reservation time though I paid $ to reserve. But I guess I should be more understanding in that you can't just kick out customers because they have "extended their stay." I mean, it IS a bar... I remember they gave us some bubbles as apologies for the wait. When I gave feedback on the uncalled wait time past our paid reservation and also the fact that they did not acknowledge my friend's bday even though the reservation asked to specify the occasion, the manager was kind to present me with a gift card. Practically everything was perfect when going for the 2nd time. Our server was amazing and attentive as well. And the food was stellar both times I went. The steak tartare is raved by critics here, and we could definitely tell why. For anyone who is wary of spice, the calabrian chili sauce comes on the side. The wagyu burger reminded me of a big mac (if you will) but in the highest quality. This place is a part of the same restaurant group as Au Cheval, and it definitely has become my goal to try all of the restaurants by Hogsalt Hospitality. But back to the food. The fries that came with the burger were probably one of the best fries I have ever had. The way the fries melt in your mouth yet are crispy at the same time is insane. Even the brussels sprouts were creatively done - the generous amount of chive sprinkled on top went so well with this side dish. The branzino was extremely good as well, but the flavors of everything else overpowered this dish sadly. It would have been nice to start out with this dish despite it being an entree. A lot of food in Chicago isn't as impressive as the aesthetics and interior of its restaurants, but Gilt Bar is definitely an exception to this and I hope to continue to rave about it in the future.

Swung by here with a group of friends and had an awesome night from start to finish. We got super lucky to just walk in on a Friday evening. But I do recommend booking a reservation because it does get busy. Last time I came here was 5 years back and remember having a great time. Nothing has changed! The ambiance is very intimate, sultry, elegant, and timeless. You'll be transported back in time. Our server quickly came over with the drink menus which I always appreciate. We ordered a bottle of white wine - southern right, which was excellent and comfortably served 4-6 glasses. We had a decent pour among four of us. The service was excellent throughout. The food was delicious too especially from their limited menu. We shared truffle bucatini, vodka rigatoni, salad and vesuvio potatoes. Everything tasted so delicious. Truffle bucatini definitely stole the show. Flavors were beyond amazing. Both the pastas were perfectly portioned to split. The potatoes were also a very flavorful as a side. They also have a very cozy bar and a speakeasy called The Library downstairs. Next time I'll save some space to enjoy the final course of desserts coz they looked amazing. Fantastic service and overall incredible experience! I would definitely return in near future!

5 stars!!! And solely based on how amazing the chocolate cream pie was!!! I am still dreaming about it a week later it was the best pie I've ever had. The atmosphere was great too. Super dark, romantic, and chill. My espresso martini was delicious too and our waitress was sweet. Will definitely be back here when I come back to Chicago! Would love to try the food next time for dinner..... Almost forgot to mention the downstairs area by the bathrooms has a cute Photo Booth with pictures lined all along the walls. Such a cool spot!

I was recommended this place by a fellow coworker who is just as much a lover of food as I, so I knew it was a must visit on my trip to Chicago! He said, you have to get the chocolate cake, even if you get nothing else, get the cake! So off I went with a purpose, and upon reading up on the reviews and checking out the menu, I knew this would not be a trip for just cake! I decided to come for dinner and make an experience. I would highly recommend to make a reservation, as the patio, dining area, and bar were packed with guests. I opted for the bar since it was just me, and looking around this place was just beautiful! The ambiance made you feel like you were back in time in the early 1900s, with the lush decor and the dimly lit lighting! I ordered an espresso martini while I waited for seating and it was light, airy, and smoothly delicious. By the time I was done, a seat opened and I opted to go with the chicken piccata for my meal, and my god it is one of the best I've ever had!! The only thing I wished it would've come with was some type of pasta, maybe angel hair, something for additional texture and for all that delectable sauce!! And then of course, last but not least, the chocolate cake, which I opted for togo, so I could indulge at a later time! Well a later time wasn't that much longer, as soon as I got back to the hotel and the camera eating first, I couldn't help but to take a bite and before I knew it half the slice was gone! It is a must, my co-worker did not lie!! Between the service with the hosts, the great bartenders and bar-back and other servers I watched throughout the evening, I'd say they know a thing or more about what they're doing! This will be in the list every visit to Chi town I go!!

Vibe: A place that makes you feel rich horny and like you should order a wedge salad. Another sexy Hogsalt bar with rich leather and comfort food. I've been here for drinks before but finally got here for dinner. The food was underwhelming given the notoriety but you're here for the vibe more than the food. I did enjoy the Brussel sprouts for their Smokiness and the salmon which was moist and well portioned for two. With that said- heavily recommend a dirty gin martini here and blue cheese stuffed olives. The service was lovely, no complaints. We got ice cream bc we had mentioned we were there for a special occasion.

Came here for the pasta and Photo Booth! Although it's technically a "Bar" they have lots of dinner tables and a great food menu. The ambiance is dark, moody and mysterious which was fun! We walked in without a reservation but right at opening so it wasn't a problem. Seems like they get super busy so reservation is recommended for later dinners. I ordered the Paccheri alla Norma which is one of my favorites and always my go-to order. I loved the richness and spice to their tomato sauce but I wish the eggplant was more present, it felt a bit hidden and homogenous in the sauce. I also took a few bites of my friend's Vodka Rigatoni and the sauce was so creamy with a hint of spice. Both noodle textures were a bit harder than I prefer but I love that it's fresh handmade pasta. After we ate, we went downstairs where the hall is covered with black and white Photo Booth strips. Behind a red curtain is a Photo Booth and for $5 you can get 2 strips with 3 photos. There is no timer and no preview so it was a blinding surprise. Our photos came out so funny because we weren't prepared and it was a lovely memory. We also stumbled across a speakeasy downstairs but you need a reservation.

Gilt Bar is an excellent choice for special occasions, date-nights, girls' night-out, etc. For our wedding anniversary date, the two of us shared the following: 1) Roasted bone marrow with red onion jam 2) Rabbit paccheri with artichokes, olives and pecorino 3) Double cut coal fired 20 ounce ribeye with bernaise and herbed steak salt 4) Smashed potatoes with chicken jus, roasted garlic, and chives 5) Lemon meringue pie Overall, we enjoyed the food and experience. The only thing that I didn't quite care for was the lemon meringue pie. The excessively tall meringue is great for presentation but not exactly necessary from a consumption perspective.

If you like alcohol, this place is good. If you don't like or can't drink alcohol, you should probably skip this place. There's like 4 mocktails, which I hate mocktails, so that's not really a choice for me. So I was left with coke or water. The food is fine, but with so many good options in Chicago, I'd never come back. Honey Peppered King Salmon - $39.99 - The lemon confit is sour and bitter. It's quite unpleasant. The salmon is cooked fine, nothing spectacular about it. The portion is small. It's kinda weird to give me a fresh lemon along with the confit lemon. The bites with the fresh lemon were pleasant. I'd skip this. 3/5 stars. Ricotta Gnocchi - $19.99 - This was good, until the 5th bite where it was getting cold. The plate doesn't come out hot, so the gnocchi starts getting cold, and the ricotta filling starts to become unpleasant to eat. It's hard to chew and swallow. I drank lots of water to get this down. So, the first 4 bites were great, but it was rough afterwards. 3/5 stars. 8oz Double Cheeseburger - $29.99 - I took a bite, and it was just average. The husband ate this dish, and he said you have to get to the part with the burger sauce, then it was tasty. The fries and the garlic aioli was good. My bite was like 3 stars, but the husband gave it a 5. 5/5 stars. Chocolate Cream Pie - $13.99 - This needed salt. The oreo crust is salted perfectly, but the chocolate and whipped cream are undersalted. If you don't take a bite with the crust, you'll realize something is wrong. If they fix the salt problem, this could be a great dessert. 4/5 stars. Here are my problems with this restaurant: I was still hungry after eating two entrées and half a dessert, there's not a drink menu for those that can't drink alcohol (4 mocktails do not count, especially when they are like $15ish), and the food was underwhelming. This was quite a bill to leave hungry. Also, my husband pointed out that I finished my two entrées before he finished his food. This is wild, because he devours food, while I eat dainty bites. Ye, sigh.
